Tales from the Norse Legends (Junior Classics) [Audiobook, Classical] [Audio CD]

Product Description

Review

It's a full-scale production, the sort of entertainment you feel you should book seats for. It's partly the music - Naxos are expert at choosing exactly the right music. The moment you hear those first crashing, thunderous chords of Mahler's Symphony No 2 in C minor, followed by Benjamin Soames's hushed, reverential announcement - "The Creation of the Universe" - you know you're in for a major 2001: A Space Odyssey kind of experience. --Sue Arnold, The Guardian

The tales of the Norse Gods, of the giants, demons, trolls and dwarves still have the power to fascinate more than a thousand years after they were first told.

Costumer Reviews

I purchased this immediately after listening to the Greek Legends written by Eddie Ferrie too, and I think this is a wonderful audiobook. The stories are freshly told, imaginative and full of humour and excitement. The stories about the creation of the universe are a bit heavy but are an crucial component of the cycle. The stories about Thor are the ideal, truly esciting and my kids appreciate them and they listen to them all the time. The music is really good and assists make atmosphere and is well chosen, stuff like Hall of the mountain king in the story Thor in the hall of the giants. Ben Soames, the actor who reads the stories is fantastic, performing lots of unique voices which tends to make it hassle-free for the youngsters to comply with becasuse they consistently know who is speaking. A true mixture of tales these, lighthearted fun stuff and apocalyptic, finish of the globe all considering that of the evil Loki! Awesome stuff. I would advocate these to anyone who likes wonderful stories with a myth, fantasy feel about them.

Amazing reading by Benjamin. He certainly brings to life Loki and Thor. I am an adult who loves the viking myths. Shopping for this CD extremely was a trial. I was even more than pleased. Not only is the language accessible for all age ranges, the depth of detail and presise description was creative and well balanced during each CD's. The ending was the climax with dramatical classical music which feed the imagination as to the final battle between all fantastic and evil. A single thing, my book decribes the ending with two Gods surviving and producing a new ara whereas the CD'd version unfortunatly does not do so. Even so, without having telling too much, this double CD is definiatly worth getting if you enjoy Viking Myths.
